Aruna Papp

Born and raised in India, has been and advocate on behalf of immigrant women for the past 35 years.  She has written extensively on the issue of honour based violence. She founded three agencies which assist immigrant women. Her book “Unworthy Creature: A Punjabi Daughter’s Memoir of Honour, Shame and Love” provides insight to what it is like to grow up in a honour based culture. Nationally and internationally recognized for her work Aruna has received 23 awards and recognition for her work. Aruna was selected as a delegate to the 57th session of the United Nation to represent Canada where she spoke on “How honour based violence differs from other forms of violence against women.”
